Vigan and UST CCPED/CCPET hold Conservation Specialist Course

newspicIn preparation for the establishment of the Vigan Conservation Complex, the City Government conducted the Heritage Conservation Specialist Course for the enhancement of professional education of architects, contractors, farmers, renovators and restoration workers and other professionals. It includes skills on heritage preservation, rehabilitation and restoration of heritage buildings and sites. For this activity ,the city government cooperates with the UST Center for Continuing Professional Education and Development (CCPED) and Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics (CCCPET).
The 64-hour certificate program includes 8 course modules of theory that focuses on the fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to safely perform intervention or maintenance in a manner compatible with the standards/guidelines for the conservation of historic places in the Philippines. The course focuses on a particular aspect of a building or building system.
After this course the participants will become knowledgeable on the measures applicable to the conservation of historic places and structures; equipped to apply the principles and practices in the performing interventions on the conservation of each component of heritage building structures and acquire the training and competency to become specialists in heritage building conservation.// tc
