Vigan was chosen as this year’s "most child-friendly city in Region I," beating seven other cities in the entire Ilocos region after it earned the highest number of points under the category for region’s component cities in an evaluation conducted by the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children.

Let’s go Metro Vigan! – the latest battle cry being advocated by Vice Mayor Franz Ranches and the members of the Vigan City Council, in relation to Resolution No. 20, Series 2008, “A resolution inviting the Municipalities of Bantay, Santa, Sta. Catalina, San Vicente, San Ildefonso, Caoayan and Sto. Domingo to explore the possibility of creating the Metro Vigan Coordinating Council.
