Vigan and Honolulu Renew Sisterhood

The City Government of Vigan and the County and City of Honolulu represented by their respective mayors — Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina & Mayor Kirk Caldwell, renewed their sisterhood agreement during a working breakfast at the Vigan Convention Center last February 13, 2014.
The ceremony was attended by Philippine Consulate General Julius Torres with the 24 members of the business delegation from Hawaii headed by Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii President Maria A.F. Etrata, Former Gov. Luis Chavit Singson and Vigan City Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran and other city officials.
Mayor Kirk Caldwell came over to help bolster the economic ties between the city and Philippines and further establish linkages with the local business sector. The mission is a part of their economic diplomacy efforts to explore business opportunities in Northern and Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

Hotel Luna Opens

Hotel Luna, the newest hotel in Vigan has opened its doors for business. It boasts elegance, hospitality as well as being the first museum hotel in the Philippines. It is named after the Filipino Master Painter Juan Novicio Luna.

The newest pride of Vigan was inaugurated last February 8, 2014 with National Artists in attendance.

It may look small outside but this building is 4-story high and has 54 rooms complete with bath tubs and onyx bath counters for a more luxury feel.

The hotel is elegantly furnished and showcases the finest in the Philippine arts, boasting rare and vintage artwork and dynamic contemporary pieces.
It has function hall that can accommodate up to 200 guests and offers variety of gourmet dishes such as Angus beef steaks and Paella. Pateros Mayors visit Vigan

On February 9-11, 2014, Mayor Jaime “Joey” Medina of Pateros Metro Manila & Mayor Gail Ann Howe of Pateros City, State of Washington together with their respective parties visited Vigan. They were personally met by Mayor Eva Medina & former Mayor Ferdie Medina at the Laoag International Airport .
Mayor Joey Medina brought with him his lovely wife, Dr. Mary Joyce Medina, other relatives and balikbayans from their town. Mayor Howe on the other hand came with Mr. Roswell Dewitt Jennings, City Councilor George Lloyd Brady & wife Brenda Kay Brady. They came to Vigan to personally experience the charm of the only World Heritage City in the Philippines.
On their first day (February 10), the group had a tour of the city to experience the world renowned heritage of the place.
